Biography

My father was a very accomplished watercolor artist who studied at the Royal College of Art in London. His work opened up my eyes to a different world as I grew up in England and inspired me to start drawing at a very young age. I started drawing animals and birds when I was 7 and still remember my concentration in the creative process and the immense satisfaction that I derived from it even at this age. It’s a passion and satisfaction that has always stayed with me.

Although I went to art school in England when I was nineteen, I was soon discouraged by my parents from pursuing a ‘career’ in art. I moved to the United States in the 60’s and went on to several career moves as a bi-lingual executive secretary for a French Bank, and assistant editor for a popular magazine in the 60’s in New York City.

When I came to the Bay Area in the 1970’s, I finally was able to undertake the education in photography that I had been waiting for. My love of nature, the visual, color and the beauty of California were developed during this time and I graduated with honors. While continuing my love for photography and painting quietly in the background, my life circumstances led me to a career in accounting to earn a living.

After moving to the California foothills in 2002, I’ve finally taken the time to further pursue my passion for art and started taking classes and workshops with master painters such as Dianne Stearns and Gerion Rios to broaden and deepen my skills.

Art has always inspired me and always been my raison d’etre. Now, at long last, I am finally pursuing my dream of painting more often than not and sharing my love of painting and drawing with the world.
